Types of Chargers

There are three levels of charging available for electric vehicles.

  • Level 1 Charging – Level 1 charging takes the longest of the electric vehicle charging methods. When you plug into a home 120-volt outlet, it can take days to completely charge your EV.
  • Level 2 Charging – Level 2 AC charging is the level you get from professionally installed home charging stations and public charging stations. Level 2 charging takes around eight hours to fully charge an EV battery.
  • Level 3 Charging – Level 3 DC charging, also called lighting charging, is the fastest option. It can charge your battery up to 80% in under an hour.
